Reports into the Chief Diversity Office and Director of Diversity and Inclusion. This position is responsible for establishing a diversity and cultural competency training and education strategy for Johns Hopkins Medicine in collaboration with Johns Hopkins Health System entities, Human Resources, Office of Organizational Equity, Organizational Development, and the Associate Dean for Diversity and Inclusion for the School of Medicine. Activities overseeing, organizing, and facilitating diversity education and training for each health system entity, developing a train-the-trainer program, creating/modifying/updating training materials, tracking and monitoring process and training effectiveness, and planning, designing and rolling out targeted training sessions for groups or individuals as dictated by area needs. This also includes reviewing existing on-line and in-person learning materials and approaches to ensure that they address our organizational vision for promoting a diverse and inclusive workforce, promoting a culture of civility and respect, and providing high quality and equitable healthcare to the patients we serve. Areas of training focus include, but are not limited to, unconscious/implicit bias, multicultural communication and language access LGBTQ, disability awareness, religious awareness, civility and respect and CLAS guidelines for culturally competent patient care.
A relevant bachelor’s degree is required.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in diversity awareness and sensitivity training. Experience in a health care setting is preferred but not required.
Ability to develop and execute against training and education strategy for healthcare entities in a large health system
Ability to influence staff and foster positive change in organizational climate
Ability to monitor and track process effectiveness and efficiency as well as training effectiveness and efficiency
Strong organizational and coordination skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills as well as listening skills with ability to navigate difficult dialogues
Ability to work in cross-functional teams
Ability to flex between being detail oriented and creating high level/initiative program recommendations
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, changing environment and meet deadlines
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Attention to detail to produce accurate reports and analysis
Strong understanding of diversity training approaches and curricula. Strong understanding of learning and development concepts and experience with learning management systems. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint. Knowledge of the above in a health care setting is preferred.
