The position of Language Access Coordinator provides a crucial link in ensuring seamless communication and care for patients needing and receiving language access services. Oversees the resources available to assure effective communication to AHN SV patients in accordance with Joint Commission, Ohio Department of Health, The Office of Civil Rights and statutes set by federal, state and local laws. Key responsibility is resource implementation, alignment, staff education and scheduling of interpreter services (telephonic, VRI, in person) for patients who do not speak English as their primary language. This includes the deaf and hearing-impaired patients and patients with other disabilities in need of communication services. This position is also responsible for managing the relationship with vendors and contract services related to language access.
Works effectively with employees, departments and independent contractors to ensure that requests for interpreting services are assigned and scheduled; problem solve with clients and interpreters to accommodate requests.
Coordinates language access services across the ProMedica system, working collaboratively with other business units and departments.
Works with internal communication to develop and implement communication, awareness and educational activities to promote language access.
Establishes and staffs the Language Access Council, managing relationships with external and internal stakeholders.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Bachelor's Degree required in a related field.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate programs
- Demonstrated skill and passion working with indidvuals from diverse backgrounds
-Business acumen and analytical skills to perform cost/efficiency analysis, productivity calculations, and compliance with budget
-Excellent written and verbal communication skills
-Well-developed problem solving, organizational, and critical thinking skills
-Strong customer service orientation
-Understanding of ADA, Joint Commission and ODH standards
-Strong time and project management skills and the ability to work quickly and efficiently, multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment, and under deadline pressure
Years of Experience: Minimum 1 year experience working in healthcare; 2-4 years in customer service expereince.
This position must be comfortable in a large group setting, or be able to interface as comfortably in small groups, or one on one. Ability to participate in and help establish educational and training programs and other activities as appropriate is required.
