A meaningful educational experience for a college student to gain valuable experience in their field of study; while accomplishing tasks and completing projects in an enriching environment. The intern will gain networking opportunities that include interactions with CHRISTUS leaders and Associates. The Intern will provide with a variety of projects to support learning objectives in areas. The intern will support Health Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (HEDI) department with their data warehousing and business analytics projects. The intern will extract, transform, load and integrate publically available data sources to data warehouse to enable business analytics for the organization. To conclude the internship, the intern will compile a presentation summary of findings supporting social determinants and their impact on the health of the target population, using both the external and internal data.
Build a strong understanding of data operations within a healthcare organization through interviews, training, and webinars
Extract, transform, load and integrate one data source to a database to support population health data analytics
Compile an executive-level presentation with recommendation(s) to support interventions for targeted population.
Currently enrolled in a master's degree program in one of the following: Public Health, Management Information Systems (MIS), Computer Science, Business or healthcare analytics, or any related fields.
Certificates in databases, programming languages, strongly preferred
Excellent working knowledge on SAS, preferred
SQL programing, required
Knowledge of relational database, data analysis and data quality assurance
Knowledge of Microstrategy's Visual Insight Analytics Tool, preferred
Advanced Microsoft Office skills
Excellent communication skills and ability to effectively work with others
Quick learner with attention to detail, high degree of confidentiality and solid organizational skills
Needs to be resourceful, innovative and persuasive with ability to problem solve and troubleshoot
At least 2 years of SQL programming in academic or professional setting
