General Statement of Duties
The Associate Director of Financial Aid will provide quality customer service to students and parents to increase academic success and post secondary matriculation by educating them on the financial aid application process. Responsible for administering all student financial aid programs and counseling students regarding their financial aid eligibility and bill payment options through individual appointments and group workshops. Work with a caseload of students to coordinate the processing of their financial aid.
Disseminate financial aid and scholarship information through workshops, seminars and individual sessions.
Organize Financial Aid seminars and information sessions. Serve as the Financial Aid speaker/organizer for on and off campus activities involving Financial Aid information.
Provide guidance to parents, students and other constituencies on the Financial Aid process and related documentation.
Assist students with financial budgeting, planning. Provide oversight of financial literacy initiatives.
Work with students and families on the completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the verification process.
Work with students and families to discuss billing, payment plan, financial aid and student loan options
Provide guidance to students about their loan borrowing and repayment.
Verify financial aid applications for a caseload of students.
Establish cost of attendance budgets and financial aid packages for students enrolled in selective admission programs.
Review Satisfactory Academic Progress appeals for a caseload of students.
Organize and oversee the entire student loan entrance and exit interview process.
Perform outreach activities to students at risk of defaulting on student loans and provide oversight for institutional default and delinquency aversion services.
Provide intrusive financial aid counseling to students within high risk populations.
Attend all MWCC and U.S. DOE related activities as appropriate. Participate in professional development and training.
Communicate and work closely with lenders, servicers and guarantors, especially in the area of default aversion and prevention.
Manage processing for Second Chance Pell program.
In the absence of the Director of Financial Aid, provide oversight of the Financial Aid Office activities.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Financial Aid.
Job Requirements:
Bachelor's degree required
5-7 years' prior experience administering federal financial aid programs required
Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing
Experience in public speaking and group presentations
Ability to interact with diverse constituencies including school personnel, agencies, the College community, parents/guardians, and other civic and community organizations
Experience with low-income, disadvantaged, and/or multicultural populations
Proficient in the use of Banner or other higher education Student Information Systems
Additional Information:
Salary:$ 50,000.00-$60,000.00
