Responsibilities

Serves as a Transportation Assistant performing aircraft certification assistant duties in support of the Engine Certification Office and/or the Boston ACO Branch of the Compliance & Airworthiness Division of the Aircraft Certification Service. Performs a variety of administrative and semi-technical support, automation support and clerical duties for specialists engaged in a highly technical aviation safety functions that involve certification of aircraft and continued operational safety of engines on a world-wide basis. Duties include, but are not limited to, participating in telephone coverage, receiving visitors, use of various office automation software programs for tracking data and information. Initiating and reviewing correspondence. Record-keeping, coordination, follow-up and preparation of the final product are all integral parts of this responsibility. Assists Records Manager in filing, disposition, storage and retrieval of technical and administrative records. This position is responsible for keeping current on guidelines and assuring compliance with, and proper implementation of regulations and policy pertaining to administrative support programs.

Travel Required

Occasional travel - The job may require travel from time- to-time, but not on a regular basis. The travel may be for training or other work-related duties.

Qualifications

General Experience: To qualify for this position at the FV-D (FG/GS 3-6) level, you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least 6 months of general experience. General experience is progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled.

OR

Education Substitution: One (1) year of successfully completed education above the high school level. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school. (Post high school level school transcript(s) must be submitted by the closing date; see Important Information Regarding Education under the Required Documents section for more information)

Combining Education and Experience: Equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements.
