Responsibilities
Evaluates students performance and evaluates learning outcomes and results associated with Contract Staff Services, i.e., Contract Instructors and Remote Pilot Operators (RPOS). Notifies the contracting officer immediately of any discrepancies in job performance. Participates in continuing evaluation of courses conducted.

Provides technical guidance, review, evaluation, and monitoring of development/revision operations of assigned programs for air traffic training. This responsibility extends to multimedia methods of training delivery.
Develops, revises, and evaluates training documents which include lesson plans, training proposals, training development plans, course design guides, and course reports.
Provides ongoing evaluation of assigned training courses. This includes evaluating test materials to ensure usability, reliability, and validity; classroom monitors; review of end-of-course critiques; and use of post-course questionnaires. Makes necessary revisions or makes recommendations concerning requirements for new development, major revision, or training equipment.
Incumbent performs a variety of professional functions in the area of course instruction and development in an academic and simulated air traffic environment related specifically to air traffic fundamental training and en route air traffic facility personnel.
Conducts resident radar, non-radar, and fundamentals technical training for en route air traffic facility personnel.
Conducts classroom academic instruction and laboratory exercises and demonstrations; Provides academic counseling for students and maintains student records; Maintains proficiency on all instructional presentation systems.
When designated, serves as lead instructor and focal point for instructors and student. Responsible for the technical and day-to-day activities of his/her class.
Assist in the training of new personnel to include FAA instructors, contact instructors, and support personnel.
Develops and maintains certification, qualification, proficiency, and refresher programs. This includes all courseware, such as lesson plans, manuals, tests, instructor guides, study guides, and associated training aids. Uses a variety of computer hardware and software to create training materials.
Provides professional advice and assistance to air traffic control centers, on-site and through recommendations for planning, developing, and standardizing air traffic training programs.
Serves as FAA Academy liaison in coordinating training requirements with service area and FAA headquarters personnel.
Supports the service areas in evaluating facility or service area training.
Serves as acting unit supervisor with commensurate responsibilities.
Acts as a subject matter expert (SME) and/or point of contact (POC) on designated field courses and computer based instruction (CBI) activities.
Represents the division at conferences, meetings, and lectures with Aeronautical Center, headquarters, field, and service area personnel sponsored by the FAA, military, other Government agencies, trade or professional associations, and educational institutions.

Qualifications
OPM Individual Occupational Requirements for Air Traffic Control Series Position (2152).
To qualify for this position, you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level FG-13/FV-I in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position.
Specialized experience may include but is not limited:
Experience in an air traffic facility; Comprehensive knowledge of appropriate air traffic control laws, rules and regulations, etc.

c. This is a FAA Academy Instructor Position. Applicants selected under 3R will be required to sign an Employment Agreement. Applicants with unexpired return rights must show: 1) current tour, 2) the region to which return rights exist, and 3) expiration date of these rights.
