rn Position Summary
rnReporting to the Superintendent, this position is a newly created Cabinet-level leadership role that will lead the strategic and visionary priorities of the Office. This position provides all students and staff with access to opportunities and resources that meet their needs and help them achieve their potential and aspirations. This position fosters and sustains a clear organizational commitment to Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity. This position creates a vision and writes an overall direction for our Race and Equity action plan.

Develop. Assist, support, and monitor programs, procedures, and processes that promote and sustain equity, inclusiveness, and diversity throughout the district;

Develop and implement strategies to monitor and evaluate district-wide progress toward eliminating the achievement and opportunity disparities among students of all identified subgroups;

Coordinate and develop effective district communications strategies to enhance and support cultural diversity and issues of equity;

Collaborate with the district committees and key stakeholders to develop and sustain practices and support the equity agenda of the district;

Serve as the liaison to the district affiliated organizations such as the Diversity Advisory Committee; collaborate with the Human Resources Department in the development of strategies for recruitment and retention of a diverse workforce;

Collaborate with the Curriculum and Instruction Department to ensure a curriculum that is equitable, unbiased, culturally relevant, and reflective of the District’s diversity;

Collaborate with the Business Office to increase diversity and develop strategies among the District’s vendors and contracts;

Implement strategies which increase cultural competence and address implicit bias with District staff;

Collaborate with Professional Learning to develop and implement a learning plan that builds the mindsets and capacity of District staff to increase equitable outcomes for all students;

rn Education and Experience
rn Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Education, Public Policy, Business or a related field from an accredited college or university;
rn Minimum 7 years’ experience in a dynamic and results-oriented leadership role developing and monitoring initiatives around diversity, equity, inclusion, or related work;
rn Experience in a school district, government, or not-for-profit organization highly preferred;
rn Deep knowledge of research, principles, and practices around diversity, inclusion and/or equity;
rn Experience in guiding the analysis of data and data-based inquiry to drive improvement in practice preferred;
rn Ability to coordinate and collaborate with diverse groups across multiple departments, schools, and organizations to achieve convergence of strategy and practice;
rn Ability to meaningfully engage a wide variety of stakeholders in challenging dialogue and critical self-reflection around racial identity, implicit bias, systemic racism, structural inequities;
rn Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
