The Pathways Internship Program serves as one of the agency's succession planning programs intended to assist in the need for leadership continuity by employing outstanding students that are enrolled in a major that leads to a bachelor's degree or higher in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (S.T.E.M). The Program provides students, in accredited colleges and universities, with paid opportunities to explore federal careers while completing their education.
We are looking for highly motivated student interns with an expected graduation beyond May 2019, to serve as a student trainee within the Information and Technology, AIT Organization.
As a student trainee, the incumbent will work with other professionals from various disciplines such as computer specialist, computer science, program analyst, etc. The incumbent will possess knowledge of basic computer science concepts and communication skills sufficient to engage in information technology (IT) work for various groups in AIT. The incumbent will also be required to communicate information to various audiences through technical reports, notes, and briefings.
Pathways Internship positions provide for development and training. Assignments become more responsible as incumbent increases knowledge and skills through work experience and academic training. At the full-performance level, you will be expected to:
Prepare reports using a variety of standard query languages depicting scheduled and actual obligations and expenditures and overall status of project for review.
Utilize project data and cost/schedule information contained in feeder reports from a variety of sources in order to analyze feasibility in relation to schedules and resource requirements.
Analyze and evaluate data to ensure data integrity and identifies any trends or indicators that could affect project performance.
Ensure execution of project funds/schedule is on track with programmed execution and identifies any adjustments that are required.
Exercise an extensive knowledge of management information systems to analyze and monitor status of assigned projects.

APPOINTMENT - If selected, your appointment may not exceed a total of 120 days after graduation.
AGREEMENT: All participants must sign a written Pathways Internship Agreement with the FAA that clearly identifies expectations of the appointment such as duties, length of appointment, work schedule, training, mentorship, etc.
CONVERSION: Although it is not guaranteed, an intern may be converted from the Internship program to a permanent excepted service position without further competition after successful completion of the educational program (awarding of degree), completion of a minimum of 640 hours of career- related work, required training, mentorship, and other requirements in accordance with the intern's participant agreement.
TERMINATION: Participation in this program may be terminated at any time.
