The Boston Conservatory at Berklee seeks candidates for the part-time role of Diversity and Inclusion Program Manager. This position will create and implement key initiatives for the D,E and I strategy through programming for students, staff, and faculty in coordination with the Executive Director’s office and the Center for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
This position will be strong point of contact for Conservatory students and will work collaboratively with staff at the Center for D,E and I on student programming and outreach, while reporting to the Deputy Chief of Staff at The Conservatory.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate commitment to the mission of enhancing diversity and inclusion in a higher ed setting, knowledge and appreciation of the world of the performing arts and the issues that face the industry, and a proven track record of successful programming in a creative environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Project management duties will include Conservatory specific D,E and I initiatives such as student mentoring, programming to address issues specific to a conservatory environment, international student support, student ambassadors program, resource to the Faculty Advisory Council.
In collaboration with the Center for D,E and I, develop and facilitate trainings, dialogues, and information sessions that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion
Community engagement - collaborate with and serve as a resource to campus and external partners in support of the Conservatory’s diversity, equity, and inclusion work.
Address inquiries and provide guidance consistent with institutional, conservatory, and Center guidelines
Demonstrated capacity for innovative and creative thinking in goal setting, program development, implementation, and delivery
Provide logistical and administrative support for program and event management
Develop communication and messaging about diversity, equity, and inclusion programs and events and initiatives
Attend staff and planning meetings with the Center for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Help collect and analyze data
Knowledge and experience working with Diversity, Equity and Inclusion strategy. Student centered approach and experience as well as some background, knowledge and appreciation of the performing arts and conservatory-style training a plus.
Demonstrated experience leading diversity and inclusion initiatives in higher education settings will be given preference. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a variety of constituents. Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication and problem solving skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively with faculty and students is essential.
Bachelors degree required
1 to 3 years professional work required, within a higher ed setting preferred. Graduate students in the field also encouraged to apply
This part-time position is housed at the Conservatory, but will work with two offices, the Office of the Executive Director, Boston Conservatory at Berklee and the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion offices at the College. This is a dual reporting role between the Director of D, E and I and the Deputy Chief of Staff at the Conservatory. Hours to be determined - may include evening and weekend hours.
