Serves as the Manager, International Technical Support Branch in the Safety Standards, International Program Division.
The incumbent serves as the Manager, International Technical Support Branch in the Safety Standards, International Program Division. He/She is responsible for the routine day-to-day technical and executive direction of the Branch. The incumbent also encourages and fosters the development of air commerce by foreign governments, builds reciprocal relationships to facilitate the safety of their organization, and provides for the promotion of U.S. aviation interests in these countries. Coordinates and directs international Flight Standards programs, policies and procedures for highly complex international safety programs. Functional responsibilities of the Manager include: development and maintenance of skilled Flight Standards technical experts who serve as the primary resource for conducting assessments under the International Aviation Safety Assessment (IASA) program, technical assistance activities, international training courses, and any other international functions requiring aviation safety technical expertise; serving as the coordinator for request for aviation safety resources to support technical assistance activities, international training, technical reviews and IASA audits and consultations; preparation of reports documenting Flight Standards IASA, technical assistance and training activities. The manager plans and administers authority for all decision-making in a wide variety of administrative and technical areas.

To qualify for this position you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to FV-J, FG/GS-14 in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. Specialized experience includes, but not limited to: experience in applying aviation safety inspector practices and procedures (as it relates to both FAA and International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) practices and procedures); and experience in applying knowledge of international civil aviation, particularly the practices, procedures and issues involved with ICAO and other international aviation authorities.
Applicants must be physically able to perform the duties of the Aviation Safety Inspector position in a safe and efficient manner and must meet all of the following requirements.
Have good distant vision in each eye and be able to read, without strain, printed materials the size of typewritten characters (glasses and contact lenses permitted);
Have the ability to hear the conversational voice (hearing aid permitted); and
Not have any physical condition that would cause them to be a hazard to themselves or others that would interfere with their ability to fly as passengers in a variety of aircraft.

Possess a valid second-class medical certificate in accordance with FAA regulations; and
Pass recurrent medical examinations as prescribed by the FAA.
